PURPOSE:To provide a picture reader capable of increasing the sharpness of a picture, removing the superposition of a noise component and obtaining a fine picture even in the binarizing processing of gradation reproduction at the time of binarizing picture data read out by the photoelectric conversion of an original picture. CONSTITUTION:Since a comparing means 3 compares the input signal of an optional remarked picture element in a picture signal read out by a picture reading means 1 with the input signal of an adjacent picture element adjacent to the remarked picture element and generates and outputs a difference signal and a sharpness correcting means 4 outputs the picture signal by emphasizing the intermediate frequency of the means 1 by using the difference signal as a weight coefficient, the difference signal becomes a parameter for MTF correction, a difference is cut out so that a fine difference between the signal and a noise component is not emphasized and MTF correction is not applied to a low level difference. |
