摘要	A method and a device for measuring the speed of an internal combustion engine make use of the changes in the exhaust gas pressure, which are related to the various phases of the combustion cycle. The pressure characteristics, which are assigned to a specific segment of the cycle, such as the exhaust stroke, are displayed by a pressure transducer, which is typically positioned in the exhaust pipe. A suitable circuit identifies and counts the pulses, which are converted into values for revolutions per minute. Statistical techniques can be applied to the counts in order to improve the accuracy of measurement.
