A hot compress structure is produced by sealing a heat generating compsn. which generates heat in the presence of air into a flat bag-like member whose one side is made of a gas-permeable film and which has no open portion. A wet compress layer is disposed on the other surface of the flat bag-like member. The moisture permeability of the gas-permeable film according to an ASTM method (E-96-80D) is limited to 100-400 g/m2.24 hrs. so that when the structure is put on the human body in close contact, mild heat of the heat generating compsn. can be transmitted uniformly to the entire surface of the skin through the wet compress layer. Keeps a safe temp. at which no low temp. burn occurs for a long period, and moreover promotes local blood circulation and improves local metabolism.
