PURPOSE:To readily produce an optically active halogenated hydroxyolefin of remarkably high optical purity, useful as an intermediate for production of a medicine, an agrichemical, various kinds of functional materials, etc. CONSTITUTION:In the presence of a binaphthol-titanium complex of formula I (X is Cl or Br), an olefin of formula II [R<1> is H or a lower alkyl; R<2> is H, a lower alkyl, NR<2>, OR, SR or SeR (R is an alkyl). Or, R<1> and R<2> may form a 4-to 8-membered cycloalkyl together with two C between them; R<3> and R<4> are each H or a lower alkyl], e.g. methylenecyclohexane is reacted with a halogenated acetaldehyde of formula III (X<1> to X<3> are each H, F, Cl or Br, providfed that these are not simultaneously H), its hemiacetal or acetal, e.g. trifluoroacetaldehyde preferably at -10 to 5 deg.C. Thereby, a mixture of a compound of formula IV, e.g. 1(3',3',3'-trifluoro-2'-hydroxypropyl)-1-cyclohexane and cyclohexane is obtained. |
