PURPOSE:To record and reproduce information on an optical disk with a base material thickness different from each other in an optical information recording and reproducing device. CONSTITUTION:This device incorporates a semiconductor laser 1b for reproducing a CD optical disk and the semiconductor laser 1a for recording and reproducing a thin optical disk with the base material thickness different from that of the CD optical disk, and a semiconductor laser 1b light source is displaced to an optical axis than a semiconductor laser 1a light source. A spherical aberration occurring when the CD optical disk is reproduced by the semiconductor laser 1a for the thin optical disk is corrected by reproducing the CD optical disk with the semiconductor laser 1b, and a recording medium with the base material thickness different from each other is reproduced by a simple optical system.
