The invention relates to a machine system for the production of a nonwoven having surfaces consolidated on both sides by fibre stitches, consisting of a first nonwoven-knitting machine with a needle bar, with knock-over and holding-down means, with a nonwoven feed and with folding means for the fed nonwoven, and of a second nonwoven-knitting machine with a needle bar, with knock-over and holding-down means and with nonwoven guide means for the nonwoven consolidated on one side and with conveying means for the nonwoven consolidated on both sides. With the aim of designing an easily supervised automatic process which can be controlled efficiently, the first and the second nonwoven-knitting machines are arranged on both sides of the conveying means for the nonwoven and the nonwoven guide means are each conveyed, for the purpose of preliminary and intermediate stages of the nonwoven, over the region of the stitch-forming zones of the first and second nonwoven-knitting machines from the outside inwards. <IMAGE>
