PURPOSE:To prevent discoloration of silk products during storage or use by physically and/or chemically treating silk to previously change color thereof into yellowish brown followed by, bleaching or dyeing. CONSTITUTION:Silk is stored in a chamber to change the color into yellowish brown, air in the chamber is evacuated by suction, charged with a nitrogen oxide gas and treated in a gaseous phase. Then the silk is irradiated with ultraviolet light rays for a prescribed time and changed into yellowish brown. The silk artificially changed into yellowish brown is bleached and/or dyed to give a silk product. |
