PURPOSE:To remove NOx at a practicable level from waste combustion gases contg. oxygen by purifying the NOx from the waste combustion gases contg. oxygen in the presence of a catalyst contg. alumina by using cyclic ether. CONSTITUTION:The NOx is purified from the waste combustion gases contg. oxygen in the presence of the catalyst contg. the alumina by using the cyclic ether (e.g. ethylene oxide). The cyclic ether to be made present on the catalyst is preferably made to exist at 0.1 to 5 molar ratio in terms of mol of the NOx contained in the waste combustion gases contg. oxygen. Consequently, the NOx is removed at the practicable level from the waste combustion gases contg. oxygen and the sufficient NOx removability is exhibited even at such a high gas space velocity as the exhaust gases of automobiles. The degradation in catalyst activity by steam is hardly generated. |
