PURPOSE:To enhance durability against thermal stress by folding back the end of either of a plain strip or a corrugated strip which forms a minimum constitution unit to form a reinforcing part, in the carrier for purification of an exhaust gas from an automobile. CONSTITUTION:A folded-back reinforcing part consisting of a foldable piece (a) is formed at the end of a plain sheet strip 1 out of the plain sheet strip 1 and a corrugated sheet strip 2 which constitute a minimum constitution unit for a honeycomb form to be accommodated in a casing by winding so that it comes in contact with the inner wall surface of the casing. This foldable piece (a) is folded back almost closely to the folded-back part. A contact angle which comes in contact with the inner wall surface of the casing is widened and thereby, thermal stress is absorbed and moderated by forming the honeycomb form 2 into the letter S using the minimum constitution unit. |
