PURPOSE:To provide a cutting tool made of TiCN base cermet having excellent wear resistance and toughness. CONSTITUTION:In a cutting tool constituted of TiCN base cermet contg. 5 to 30vol.% metallic bonding phase essentially consisting of Co and/or Ni, and the balance substantial hard dispersed phase, the hard dispersed phase is constituted of (a) a hard dispersed phase having a core double phase structure and/or a core triple phase structure and in which the core part is constituted of (Ti, M) CN or a dispersed phase, if required, having an (a') single phase structure and constituted of (Ti, M) CN and 25 to 70vol.% of (b) a hard dispersed phase having a core double phase structure and/or a triple phase structure and in which the core part is constituted of TiCN or a hard dispersed phase, if required, having a (b') single phase structure; where M denotes one or more kinds among Ta, Nb, hard dispersed Zr, W and Mo. |
