<p>The welding apparatus according to the invention can receive any desired pallet, irrespective of its type, its design or size, and permits simple feeding of the pallet parts into its interior, and also the positioning of the pallet parts in its centre at any given time. A plastics pallet divided vertically into an upper pallet part and lower pallet part is welded into a one-piece part by means of a butt-welding operation. The apparatus comprises a transporting device for the pallet parts and also a pressure-welding device. The transporting device for the pallet parts comprises a conveying element and a transporting element for the pallet parts, the conveying element being located in the interior of the transporting element for the pallet parts. The transporting element for the pallet parts comprises a vertically displaceable bearing plate, which is fitted on a carriage which moves on rails fitted parallel to this transporting element. This vertically displaceable bearing plate is provided with a displaceable plate, which moves in the direction of the conveying element and away from it, and also a pair of sprue holders, which are fitted pivotally and on the displaceable plate in the vicinity of the conveying element.
