<p>The invention relates to a biodegradable packaging material comprising an oxygen-impermeable central layer of polyvinyl alcohol which is provided on both sides with a water vapour-impermeable layer of polyhydroxybutyrate and/or polyhydroxyvalerate or the copolymer thereof, where a layer of a cellulose derivative and/or of paper is arranged on each of these two water vapour-impermeable layers.
