PURPOSE:To prevent a crack on a gear and to enhance the durability of the gear by forming a tooth contact part at the inner side (in the direction of the face width) from the end-surface of both a helical side gear and a helical pinion gear. CONSTITUTION:Chamfers 59, 61, 63 are applied to an end part of a tooth 57 of a left side gear. The chamfers 59, 61 are applied onto the tooth contact side at the time of going-forward of a vehicle, while the chamfer 63 is applied onto the tooth contact side at the time of going-afterward of the vehicle. The width of these chamfers is widened toward the addendum, starting at the bottom of the tooth. A chamfer 64 is applied to a right-end part 48 of a left, gear-part 47 of a pinion gear 43. The chamfer 64 is applied onto a tooth contact side at the time of going-forward of the vehicle. The width of the chamfer 64 is widened toward the addendum, starting at the bottom of the tooth, like the chamfers of the side gear. With this contrivance, an occurrence of cracks on the gear can be prevented, and the durability of the gear can be enhanced.
