PURPOSE:To provide a vehicle suspension device which can eliminate a disorder owing to the delay of response in the converting time, in a damping characteristics control depending on the sky hook theory, and can improve the control response and the durability of an actuator. CONSTITUTION:When the damping characteristics of one side stroke side either the extention side or the pressure side is movable-controlled, a shock absorber b having a damping characteristics converting means a with the structure to fix the reverce stroke side to the damping characteristics; and a damping characteristics control means e to control to the damping charasteristics proportional to the value obtained by dividing the value of the springing vertical speed at that time, by the value of the relative speed, when the direction discriminating mark of the springing vertical speed detected by a springing vertical speed detecting means c (the upward direction is and the downward direction is -), and the direction discriminating mark of the relative speed detected by a relative speed detecting means d (the extention direction is +, and the pressure direction is -), are the same mark, while to control to the damping characteristics proportional to the value of the springing vertical at that time, when the both marks are different; are provided.
