PURPOSE:To provide a high speed sort processor with high reliability. CONSTITUTION:Sort processors 6 are connected like a pipe line. The sort processor 6 is equipped with sort core parts 2 and 3, and internal storage devices 4 and 5 corresponding to the sort core parts 2 and 3. Then, external memories 7 and 8 are added at the outside of the sort processor 6, corresponding to the sort core parts 2 and 3. The sort core parts 2 and 3 use those corresponding internal devices 4 and 5, and external memories 7 and 8 as local memories. Also, when a fault part is found in the local memory, the sort core parts 2 and 3 use a part of the internal storage devices 4 and 5 as the substitutive memory, so that a sort processing can be continued.
