The device comprises an outer casing (6) and an inner casing (16) which are arranged on either side of the zone for receiving the locking mechanisms. The casings receive a tumbler box (7-18) incorporating a plurality of articulated blades which, under the action of a key (4), define the shape of a transverse slot. The tumbler boxes are movable in order to cooperate with means coupled to an intermediate piece, called a lantern (5), the setting in motion of which ensures the control of the locking mechanisms. The device according to the invention comprises a set of driving means (12-23) in the form of discs, having, on the face opposite the corresponding tumbler box, a profiled stud (11-24-31.3-31.4) capable of penetrating into the transverse slot of the said tumbler box, the said driving means being associated with the intermediate piece forming a lantern. <IMAGE>
