The invention provides a device for holding and feeding picked mushrooms to a component for cutting off the feet, with two elements which lie at a distance from one another, support the mushrooms and are located above the cutting component. In this device, each of the elements defines a number of mushroom supports which lie one above the other, and the horizontal distance between two opposite supports increases or decreases with the vertical distance from these supports to the cutting component. This ensures that a small mushroom, which also has a small stem, is supported at a relatively short distance, and a larger mushroom is supported at a greater distance, above the cutting component, so that it is possible to cut off the foot from both small and large mushrooms at the correct location, thus preventing loss of product. Moreover, there is no damage to the mushrooms and the device can be loaded more quickly.
