The invention relates to apparatus (1) for discharging flowable material, particularly a powder or other particulate material (not shown), comprising a hopper, bin, silo or the like (2) (hereinafter "a hopper") having a discharge outlet (3) with a closure (4), also known as an alpha -flange, and, spaced therefrom a device (5), such as a cone, for obturating flow of material from the outlet (3), and a mechanism (6) which is connectible with the obturating device (5) and is operative to open the closure (4) and obturating device (5) in sequence. The mechanism (6) also closes the obturating device (5) and closure (4) in reverse sequence. |
