LUBRICANT FOR USE IN FORMATION OF ALUMINUM OR ALUMINUM ALLOY SHEET OR PLATE AND COLD WORKING METHOD

PURPOSE:To provide a lubricant excellent in an ability to give excellent formability to an aluminum sheet or plate and excellent in removability by washing in a step subsequent to the pressing step and to provide a method for cold working an aluminum sheet or plate by using said lubricant. CONSTITUTION:The lubricant contains 1-20wt.% total of at least one compound selected from between a condensed phosphoric acid and its salt and at least one phosphorus-containing organic compound as the major additives and 0.1-1.5wt.% coupling agent containing at least one member selected from among Ti, Al and Si and has a viscosity of 5mm<2>/sec or below at 40 deg.C. By coating the surface of an aluminum sheet or plate with this lubricant before formation, a reactive film (lubricant film) is formed on the sheet or plate without heating any of the sheet or plate and the lubricant, and then the sheet or plate is formed. This lubricant is suitable for the formation of difficultly processable aluminum articles of complicated shapes including parts of electrical equipments, aircraft components and automobile components as well.
