METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING STATE OF BALANCED PAIR LINE

PURPOSE:To obtain a state recognition method for balanced pair lines in which a state of a communication balanced pair lines is recognized at a low error rate by measuring a transmission characteristic of the communication balanced pair lines remotely. CONSTITUTION:The transmission characteristic of each of plural balanced pair lines whose state is known is measured and a characteristic quantity is calculated based on the absolute value or the like of the impedance between each conductor composed of the balanced pair lines and earth. Furthermore, a rule giving a recognition result of a correct line state is retrieved based on the calculated characteristic quantity and the state of each line and a rule group giving a state recognition result with less error rate is adopted. Then the transmission characteristic of the balanced pair line being the state recognition object is measured and the said characteristic quantity is calculated. Then the state of the balanced pair line being the recognition object is recognized based on the characteristic quantity and the rule group adopted as above. Thus, the efficient maintenance management of the balanced pair lines and communication lines is attained.
