Rail guide consisting of a guided and a guiding rail with cross-sections with essentially U-shaped profiles, the rails enclosing a cavity in which an adjustment element which is connected to the one rail is arranged, the said adjustment element engaging in a toothing which runs in the longitudinal direction of the rail and with which the other rail is provided or to which it is connected, in particular for rail guiding systems in motor vehicles such as seat rails for motor vehicle seats or rail guides for window-raising adjustment systems, sunroof adjustment systems or the like. The free legs of at least one rail with a U-shaped profile have constrictions (5, 6) which, with one element of the other rail, form hooked connections for increasing the resistance to being pulled out, and the constrictions (5, 6) form engagement areas for a drive gear element or a locking element in that they are provided with toothings. The arrangement can be manufactured cost-effectively and ensures that the guided rail and the guide rail remain in their previously fixed position with respect to one another even when high accelerations occur such as for example in a car crash. <IMAGE>
