A railway for combined rail/road traffic has a pallet (8, 8') for receiving the road vehicles (9, 9'). A railway wagon (3, 3') can be moved over the pallet (8, 8'). The railway wagon (3, 3') has for this purpose a carrying mechanism (7) which is constructed as a bridge which spans the pallet (8, 8') which is loaded with road vehicles (9, 9'). The running gear (14, 15) of the railway wagon (3, 3') is arranged on the outside of the longitudinal sides of the carrying mechanism (7).
