A lubrication system for a turbo-engine essentially comprises at least one oil pump (14, 15), driven by alternating current, which feeds the lubricant by way of a cooler (22), a filter (23) and a restrictor (24) into a manifold (12), from which the various bearings (7-11) are supplied. In the event of a failure of the main pump (14, 15) and a resulting machine trip, an oil pump (25) driven by direct current from a battery (27) takes over the delivery of lubricant into the manifold (12). During the run-down phase of the turbo-engine the lubrication of the bearings (7 to 11) is undertaken at reduced oil pressure. After run-down of the turbo-engine at least the end bearing (7) of the turbo-engine is cooled at a further reduced oil pressure for a period of several hours. The direct current source can thereby be kept small. <IMAGE>
