Combination of an intrauterine contraceptive device and an introduction instrument

The invention relates to a combination (100) of an intrauterine contraceptive device (1), a corresponding hollow introduction instrument (2) which is suitable for introduction of the contraceptive device in the uterus, and a piston (3) which is movable relative to the introduction instrument and whose cranial end abuts the caudal end of the device. The device (1) comprises a cylindrical body (4) and two bendable arms (6 and 6') which are fastened on one end of the body. The introduction instrument (2) has an elongate opening (12) on the cranial end and an elastic web (14) which thickens at the cranial web end (16). The thickened web end (16) is wedge-shaped and points caudally with the tip of the wedge. The web (14) has a guide for the device (1). The introduction instrument (2) and the piston (3) each possess a holder (13 and 19) at their caudal ends. The combination is intended to improve handling on introduction of a device and to reduce the risk of injury. <IMAGE>
