A filter device for molten thermoplastics has a casing (2) in which two filter plates (5, 6) are arranged parallel to each other and spaced apart. The melt to be filtered is taken to these filter plates (5, 6) via an inlet channel (19). The impurities collected on the inlet side of the filter plates (5, 6) are continuously removed by a doctor (8) having a plurality of doctor blades (10) separately arranged along curved paths so as to force the impurities to the centre of the filter plates (5, 6), where the impurities enter an outlet channel (22) in which they are removed by means of at least one worm (23, 24).
