<p>PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of burning for screening by burning deposit trapped by a porous filter pipe having a downstream part closed, with the use of heater wires piercing through the filter pipe and connected in parallel. CONSTITUTION:Several porous ceramic pipes 21 having their outlets closed by plugs 23 are bundled with gaps therebetween and covered thereover with a heat-shielding material 25, and are then housed in the casing 12 of a particulate filter 1. The upstream gaps are closed by spacers 24. Further, heater wires 22 having a positive temperature coefficient are laid through the ceramic pipes 21, respectively, and are connected in parallel with one another. The heater wires 22 are energized by means of a controller 3 and a bridge circuit, and accordingly, deposit in the pipes are efficiently burnt by heat generated from the heater wire with the use of the positive temperature coefficient characteristic of the heater wires.</p> |
