PURPOSE:To provide a metal carrier which has an outer layer part resistant to metal fatigue due to thermal stress and free from gas exhaust performance deterioration of a honeycomb body used for a metal carrier for a catalytic device. CONSTITUTION:The inner layer part of a honeycomb body 1 is formed by stacking plain sheet 2 and corrugated sheet 3 of ferritlc stainless steel and rolling the sheets. In addition, plain sheet 2' of austenitic stainless steel which has higher high temperature strength and higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the plain sheet 2 of the inner layer part is lap-welded at a connection part 4, at least, in the range of one or more layers, in the outer layer part of the honeycomb body to form the honeycomb body 1. |
