PURPOSE:To find out a dispersion of aqueous resin for a thermal recording material which can give a coloring layer or a protective layer of high performance and to obtain the thermal recording material being excellent in a ground coloring property, a water resistance, a sticking resistance, a printing coloring property, a plasticizer migration resistance, etc., by using the dispersion. CONSTITUTION:A dispersion of aqueous resin for a thermal recording material prepared by a method wherein polyvinyl alcohol or denatured polyvinyl alcohol of polymerization degree 300 to 2400 and saponification degree 80% or above is used by 10 to 250wt.% to the total amount of polymerizable monomer as an emulsifying agent and a polymerizable monomer constituent containing a polymerizable multifunctional monomer by 15wt.% to the total amount of the polymerizable monomer to be used in the preceding stage of a polymerization reaction is polymerized in the preceding stage, while the polymerizable monomer constituent is polymerized in the following stage to form an aqueous resin dispersion for thermal recording material, and the thermal recording material having a thermal coloring layer and/or a protective layer for which the dispersion is used. |
