PURPOSE:To improve dressing work and the quality of a disc board by forming a dresser for dressing the polishing unwoven fabric used in a polishing machine, in such a way as to have the same number of teeth and the same diameter as a carrier, and machining the resin surface of the dresser into laterally asymmetric chopping wave shape. CONSTITUTION:A metal thin film magnetic disc (hereinafter referred to as disc) held to a carrier is interposed between an upper and a lower surface tables rotated reversely to each other. The carrier is put in both autorotating and revolving motion, and the disc is put in autorotating motion. The both faces of the disc is thereby polished by polishing unwoven fabric (pad) carried on the opposed faces of the upper and lower surface tables. In such a polishing machine, a dresser formed of resin excellent in wear resistance and impact resistance into disc shape of the same diameter as the carrier is used at the time of dressing the pad. In this dresser, the outer periphery of a dresser body 1 is provided with tooth form 4 of the same number of teeth as the carrier, and the surface is provided parallely with chopping wave shape parts 2... laterally asymmetric but symmetric with a centerline 3 in between. |
