PURPOSE: To provide a highly precise detector with a long life which carries out oxidation of a work electrode and then reduction, and measures the current caused by electrochemical reaction on the electrode. CONSTITUTION: A holder 150 of a work electrode WE and a reference electrode RE is installed in a jet pipe holder 160 and an extended capillary tube 410 is inserted through an inlet hole 420. A metal counter electrode CE is inserted while penetrating a counter electrode hole 460 of the holder 160. A potentiostat applies the potential necessary for operating the electrode CE and the electrochemical cell 100 to the electrode WE. That is, pulse voltage high enough to oxidize the electrode WE and a solution within a short time is applied to the electrode WE and then inverse reduction voltage is applied to carry out reduction within a short time. Next, the voltage is set at a prescribed work voltage for a prescribed period and Faraday current of an object to be measured is measured and these processes are repeated cyclically. By this method, cleaning is carried out within a short time, so that the stain concentration of the surface is lowered and the detection sensitivity is heightened even though the produced surface reaction is seemingly fierce. |
