PURPOSE: To correct distortion due to scanning without using any expensive scanning device by providing plural indexes for defining known reference poinst on a plane member, overlapping the face of a picture pattern with the faces of the plural indexes on the same face, and correcting the distortion according the distortion of the reference point. CONSTITUTION: An interposing sheet 30 is constituted of two plane sheets 40 and 42, and plural indexes 46 are arrayed along the surface of the plane sheet 42. The picture of a pattern piece P and the indexes 46 are scanned by a scanner 12 in a state in which the pattern P is inserted into the interposing sheet 30, and the data from the scanner are supplied to a data processor. In the data processor, raster data are converted into vector data. Then, the vector data are processed for each closed pattern detected in the data from the scanner so that the circular indexes 46 can be identified in the data from the scanner 12, and discriminated from the other data for defining the outline of the pattern piece P. |
