PURPOSE: To obtain an oscillator having a boosting phase which aggressively prevents phase overlapping by making the generation of both phases of an ordinary phase and the opposite phase of an induced boosting phase possible. CONSTITUTION: A first ring oscillator is constituted of inverters E→A→A'→B'→B→C→D'→(E) and a second ring oscillator is constituted of inverters E'→A'→A→B→B'→C'→D→E'. The natural frequencies of the two ring oscillators are established by means of two identical RC networks which are common to both rings. The oscillation and stoppage of the two ring oscillators are performed by inputting logical signals to the common input node of two NAND gates E and E'. Therefore, the oscillators oscillate in opposite phases and their F-phase signals FX and FN are completely synchronized in opposite phases. In addition, FFs formed in the NAND gates inhibit one phase from becoming a high level simultaneously with the other phase.
