Magnetometer

A magnetometer (10) having switched magnetisation and operated in a closed loop is specified, which has a magnetic-field resistor bridge (12) for detecting external magnetic fields. The output signal from the bridge circuit (12) to an amplifier (52) is magnetically zeroed by a feedback coil (62). Each of the bridge elements (14) has an easy magnetic axis which is magnetically and periodically switched over by a resetting coil (68). The output of the amplifier (52) is fed to an analog switch (54) and to an integrator (56), it also being possible for the sequence to be reversed. The output of the analog switch or of the integrator can be fed to a sampling and storage device (64) or to another sampling device which alternatively samples the signal output to it synchronously with the signal of the resetting coil. The output signal is processed by a low-pass amplifier (66). A clock generator (70) delivers signals to the resetting coil (68), to the analog switch (54) and to the sampling and storage device (64) (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
