An extracting element for chips, dust or the like for mounting on an extracting device, in particular for wood-working machines, has a housing in which, at least on a section of the flow path, partition walls extending up to the extracting opening are provided in order to form flow channels whose cross-sectional areas in the extracting element are kept constant. As a result, the speeds at a cross-sectional area to be exhausted can be distributed, as required.
