PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound useful as a hypoglycemic agent. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I [A and B are H, halogen, nitro, lower alkoxy, lower alkylsulfonylamino, etc.; Z is O, S, =N-R<0> (R<0> is H, lower alkyl, etc.); R<1> is cyano, lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio, amino, etc.; R<2> is cyano, (substituted) amino or (substituted) heterocyclic group] such as 2-(1- piperazinyl)-4-(1-methyl-2-imidazolyl)benzofuro[3,2-d]pyrimidine. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II (X is halogen) with a compound of the formula H-R<2>. |
