PURPOSE:To prevent air from flowing into an ink discharge port and realize subtle suction of ink through a cap by providing a mechanism for increasing a volume in a communication passage so as to accommodate reduction in an inner volume in a cap member. CONSTITUTION:When a cap piston member 16 is moved upward, a piston section 17 of the cap piston member 16 is also moved upward to increase a volume of a cylinder section 19 of a cap cylinder member 18 which is provided to be stationary. Accordingly, reduction in an inner volume in a cap 3 caused by elastic deformation of the cap 3 is accommodated by an increase in the volume of the cylinder section 19 of the cap cylinder member 18, so that at the time of capping the cap 3 is depressurized and is prevented from being pressurized. |
