PURPOSE:To obtain additional information useful to traveling by detecting and storing the position and traveling direction of a vehicle on a map, and recording and storing a scenery and sound along a road while collecting road map data or traveling on the road. CONSTITUTION:A personal computer 10 obtains position and direction information calculated by a position and direction calculating part 5 from a line 11, and applies each kind of command through the line 11 to the position and direction calculating part 5. Also, a television camera 13 viewing front part and a microphone 14 are attached to a navigation system 1, and a video taken by the television camera 13 and the sound received by the microphone 13 are recorded in a video tape in a video tape unit 15. Also, the microphone 14 records an item to be mentioned specially by a driver, for example, the important item at the time of editing the road map data which is not projected by the television cameras 13, with the sound Thus, the additional information can be easily collected. |
