The subject matter of the invention is an arrangement for splitting timber, which comprises a blade 4, which is enclosed, and which consists of a cutting edge 5, which is situated to the side of the blade 4 in an upright position. The blade structure 4 moves along the frame 2 with the aid of the tractor's own hydraulic push rod. Firmly fixed to the frame 7 is a counter-piece 6, the horizontal side of which is in line with the tip of the splitting blade 4. When the blade 4 penetrates the timber, the timber is partially split, the cutting edge 5 encounters the end of the timber and pushes this with it past the counter-piece 6, and the one part of the timber remains in place in front of the counter-piece 6. The distance between the blade 4 and the counter-piece 6 can be moved by pushing the frame 7 into the frame 2. Locking is effected by means of bolts, which are fixed in holes on the frame. <IMAGE>
