Synchronised motion control of hydraulic linear actuators

A pair of linear hydraulic actuators (1, 2) move with a fixed velocity ratio, using high pressure fluid from a pump (19) that is passed through a rotary flow divider (3) coupled to 4/2 directional flow valves (7, 8). Coupled to the flow divider are a pair of valves (4, 5) that apply corrections to maintain the required synchronised motions.The valves are proportional solenoid valves that respond to signals generated by a controller. The controller monitors the difference between the actual position of the actuators and the reference value, with the generated error used as the valve control.
