In order to achieve a higher density by means of the compaction apparatus, it is preceded by a precomminution. When field fodder and regrowing raw materials are used, the compacting apparatus is preceded by a cutting apparatus in the form of a field chopper. During the compaction of hard materials, such as wood waste or plastic parts, a breaking-up apparatus is to carry out precomminution in front of the compaction apparatus.
