An insert (3) into a hot water pipe contains two mutually insulated annular electrodes (1,2) of opposite polarity and a measuring device (4) connected to the electronic unit (5) which draws its power from them, exploiting the electrolytic properties of the water.The electrodes replace the conventional battery of such measuring appts., and the measurement data are transmitted to a central station either by ultrasonic signals or electrically or electromagnetically through the hot water system.
