The side of the chain (9) facing the workpiece (2) when turning with the workpiece in contact with a section of the chain length is provided with a cushion (13) on every second chain component. The cushion is pref. of polyurethane with a Shore hardness of approximately 90. The cushions are provided with integrated nuts and are screwed to the chain components via screws penetrating through between the chain bolts. The screw head in each case is guided by a flap supporting on the chain bolts.The closable chain (9) has a chain lock in the form of a swivel, which within the areas of the chain provided with cushions is arranged at a point, which on turning of the workpiece (2) does not come into direct contact with the workpiece.
