A hydrostatic mechanical performance gearbox has one or more hydrostatic bridging devices in different forms. The system enables one or more geared fixed points to be engaged.The bridging device takes the form of a blocking device for the second hydrostatic unit (B), or a localised block engager, or a stabilising device with a fine mechanical through drive. The geared fixed points can be manually or automatically engaged.
