<p>A synergistic nitrosamine and/or nitrite inhibitor comprising :- (i) a compound of formula:- RyN(O)x(CH2PO3M2)(3-y> where y is 1 or 2, x is 1 or 0,R is an alkyl group having up to 6 carbon atoms or a hydroxyalkyl, carboxyalkyl or polyoxethylene group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms and M is hydrogen, or a cation such that the compound is water soluble; and (ii) a synergistic proportion of a compound of general formula :- (M2O3PCH2)2N(O)x[(CH2)mN(O)xCH2PO3M2]nCH2PO3M2 wherein n is independently from 0 to 8, m is 2 or 3, and x and M are as hereinbefore defined.</p> |
