<p>Method comprises contact with a solvent stable, polyphenylene oxide derived membrane under pressure conditions of at least 300 psig. The alpha-olefin fraction is recovered as the permeate, and it contains a lower concn. of aluminium alkyl than the mixt.. Pref. pressure is at 600 psig and the temp. is 0-60 deg.C. An example of a suitable membrane is a bromomethylated 2,6-dimethylphenylene oxide polymer (MW is 20,000; 3.2 meq/g active Br) coated on a microporous PP support and crosslinked by NH3 or an amine. The substrate is a polymer, glass, ceramic, porous metal or carbon.</p> |
