Polynucleotide and oligonucleotide probes for the diagnosis of mycoses caused by Candida albicans have been described. These gene probes are complementary to parts of the genome of C. albicans and are suitable for identifying C. albicans nucleic acids in any, including amplified, sample material. They do not hybridise with nucleic acids of other fungi, bacteria, animals or plants. Methods for the diagnosis of C. albicans also in clinical samples are described. |
