METHOD FOR FIRING BETA-ALUMINA TUBE

PURPOSE:To effectively prevent the roundness of a beta-alumina tube from deteriorating as well as to eliminate troublesome work to separate the tube from a setter after firing. CONSTITUTION:A compact 2 for a beta-alumina tube is set on a setter 1 made of spinel having a high magnesium oxide content and the compact 2 is covered with a firing vessel 3 and fired. Since the setter 1 does not bond to the compact 2 by a reaction in the firing process, it is not necessary to separate the resulting beta-alumina tube from the setter 1 after firing and the objective beta-alumina tube whose roundness is a prescribed value or below can be obtd.
