The tank (6) containing the water to be vaporised is fitted with a pressure-sensitive switch (pressostat) (8) which interrupts the supply of the heating body of the appliance in the event of overpressure, with a thermistor (19) which also interrupts the supply of the heating body, but in the event of overheating within the tank, with a safety valve producing discharge of pressure from the tank in the event of overpressure, with a second safety valve (16) which also discharges pressure in the tank in the event of overpressure and with a thermal fuse (22) which takes its data from the outer face of the wall of the upper part of the tank in order to interrupt the supply of the heating body in the event of overheating of the tank. These various safety means can operate in cascade or be substituted for one another in the event of malfunction and ensure perfect operational safety of the appliance. <IMAGE>
