The retaining elements (2) of the gripper rotor are shaped to form a matrix for folding of wrappers therearound. Transfer of partially wrapped articles from the gripper rotor (1) to the packing rotor (10) is effected by relative rotational and radial movement of retaining elements (2, 11) of the rotors into positions for mutual cooperation. <IMAGE>
