AUTOMATIC GAIN CONTROLLER

PURPOSE: To obtain automatic gain control technology which is effective for a digital television signal. CONSTITUTION: An analog type high precision television signal to represent digital television information is received by a high precision television receiver including an analog and a digital signal processing circuits 116, 117. High priority information in a narrow band and low priority information in a wide band are included in the received signal. An automatic gain control(AGC) signal is generated as a function of a value of a coefficient of a corresponding adaptive equalizer 120 or the function of number of saturated samples processed by a corresponding input analog/digital converter from information in the narrow band.
